“Since Friday, May 25, 2018, the new regulations require, in the 31 Member States of the European Economic Area, that your company has a different legal basis, so that you do not have to obtain a separate, express and free consent from your clients beforehand just to make a change of the delivery channel of your bills, paper to electronic or vice versa. If you had not provided for it in your terms and conditions, a contract or other agreement, sufficiently clear and formalized, you will not be able to impose it, unless a law provides that invoices can no longer be issued in other form. For your private customers in their domestic life, we are far from it, even if Belgium considers that every citizen has an electronic identity.”

In practice?
Your customer receives a first paper invoice, as usual. On this invoice is a “Digiteal Payment Banner”, which makes it easier for customers to pay their bill thanks to the European standard Payment QR Code.

This Payment QR Code is different from a traditional QR Code because it does not redirect your customer to a website. It pre-fills the payment order, no need for manual data entry!
At the end of the payment process, Digiteal asks your customers how they want to receive their next bill. It is then proposed to them to receive the next invoice, either in the Digiteal platform, or in a channel chosen by your company, or by keeping the current method: the choice made by your customer carries his express consent.
The management of the pdf invoices (sent by email or available on portal) is complex and is absolutely not optimal: it requires a lot of rigor, structure, the manual encoding of the payment, etc. It’s simple, the most efficient channel for the customer as for the company is electronic invoicing: Digiteal has made this choice and builds the future by creating this platform that optimizes the management and payment of invoices.
